During the 12 Days of Sock Yarn I shared that we would be offering the last release of our Poste Yarn and here it is!
Targhee Sock above in Thra, which pairs well with Soy Sauce, below.
We shuttered our little Poste Yarn dye shop last year, converting it to housing more yarn to support other dyers instead. While it might reinvented into a different project post-pandemic, right now we have one last batch of it to share as a way to cap of 2020 with a bright point of awesomeness.
Targhee Sock in Grape Jelly
First, we have all American made from sheep-to-shop US Targhee Sock. Targhee wool is durable and a bit more rustic than the typical merino wool used in sock yarn. I've always found it odd that Targhee wool isn't used more for for socks, as it seem to me to be a great choice over all. It holds up very well, takes the dye beautifully, and really is a wonderful wool.
Targhee Sock in Elysian Fields
I have a really nice selection of speckles and coordinating solids for you in this last batch. There isn't a lot to go around, so if you want to pair colors for a project, you're always welcome to e-mail me and ask if they go well together, but the color could sell out before I have a chance to get back with you. This batch was all dyed to go together, so if you think it looks nice together online, it's likely they were meant to go together, so please do take the "chance" when combining colors. Plus the price of just $19.50 a skein (when regularly this would be $26) is a really special end-of-2020 deal.
250g Worsted in Dark Matter
If you love a wonderful worsted weight merino, I have a HUGE 250g skein for you for much less than the $60 you'd expect for weight and yardage. For just $36, you get 2.5 times the normal size skein - 465 yards of hand dyed, worsted weight yarn.
250g Worsted in Teal Life
I also have just a small amount of our Cash Sock, which I'm selling as Potluck - we choose your color and you get a lovely suprise when you open your package. Our Cash Sock is 80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon which makes this skein super soft yet still durable enough for socks.
This type of skein would typically retail for $32, but if you'd like a super suprise, you can get the deal of $24. All the skeins I have are tonal solids (no speckles or variegated skeins in the bunch) and if there's a color you love or greatly dislike, you're welcome to tell us in the note field on our Check Out page, knowing that we will do our best with your request, but as it's potluck we will fill the order with a surprise. For instance, if you ask "I love a good blue" and we have just that, we will include suck a skein. But if we do not, we'll include a different awesome skein of our choosing.
If you love a good striping yarn, we have a wonderful worsted weight striping yarn that's great for scarves, hats, stockings, you name it. Paradise City, shown above, would be perfect for Halloween scarves and accessories for sure.
And we have just a bit of our cashmere striping sock sets and our regular striping yarn, including the Green Bay Pride stripe which is perfect for all the Packers fans in your life.
Thank you for supporting SSYC and our little dye shop. We enjoyed dyeing knittable delights for nearly a decade, but it's time to let go of that part of what we do. It's likely that Poste Yarn will be reintroduced at a later time, but right now operating a small business in a pandemic is difficult enough and I do think it will be a couple years until I have the brain space to take on another creative endeavor. Thankfully, you all keep the shop busy enough supporting other dyers and companies that there really is no hole to fill. Thank you for making 2020 less difficult than it could have been, and for allowing us to serve you into our 16th year! Since we didn't get to have a big in-person 15th Anniversary bash, we're hoping here that we CAN have a big Sweet Sixteen party!
