It's all treats and no tricks for Treat Week at SSYC! Place your online order Monday through Friday this week and we'll gift you one of three of our awesome sock project bags with purchase! Each zippered project bag features one of these phrases: "Today's good mood is sponsored by yarn" or "Procrastiknit: To delay or postpone less gratifying actions in order to knit" or "Me: I have too much yarn. Also me: Let's go to the yarn shop!" Choose the one that fits you best and tell us in the comment/note field at Check Out which you'd prefer or we will simply choose one for you. You don't have to email or add it to your order, we'll automatically tuck one in your parcel for orders placed Monday through Friday this week. If your first choice is gone, we'll surprise you with a different one so you'll definitely get a bag. If you order more than once, we will give up to two per person this week total.
Edited to add a day later.... WOW. Thank you for your big response to our Halloween Treat giveaway! We are seeing a lot of orders, so while we typically ship within 24 hours, we will need another day or two to get your orders out the door. We're a small crew and will work our best to get these shipped to ya ASAP! Thank you!
What might you like to purchase to get your free treat this week? We have some wonderful fall goodies here, and our Super Socktober Sale is on with deals up to 55% off!
You may have noticed that we have two new Opal Yarn Collections, Crazy Waters and Rainforest 19! These are super colorful and I've already snagged a ball of color 11315 for myself. The weather has finally turned here in Indiana, and I want a brand new, super brightly colored pair of socks! There's something about the sudden turn of weather than makes me want to cast on 3 pairs of socks immediately. You too?
If you really want to keep warm this winter, I recommend taking a look at the Fleece Artist Thrummed Mitten Kits we have. It's as simple as knitting a thick mitten but tearing off a bit of fleece and added it to a stitch every once in awhile (pattern included). Then you have a fleece lined mitten when you're done! We have a hard time keeping up with how fast these go in the fall and winter. We have more coming next week, as long as they all clear Customs in a timely manner. Oooooh, and look at these stunning colors too. And these. They each come with a pattern with purchase too, if you just respond to your emailed receipt and ask.
Want more thick knits? I mean, we're called Simply Socks, but over 18 years we've added weights up to super bulky.... and a lot of it! We have every color of Malabrigo Rasta and Caracol so you can knit up thick hats and scarves super fast. I knit up the squishiest scarf last Sunday (pattern details here) using two skeins of Caracol and it's just divine. One day of knitting and I'll be cozy all winter!
If you'd like to treat yourself to a skein of something you haven't tried before, I recommend looking at Qing Fibres of London, The Sheepy Shire made here in the US or one of the holiday colors of West Yorkshire Spinners that we import from the UK. Below is this year's Christmas color, Nutcracker. I already knit this a couple months ago and love the finished socks.
Do you love nuanced colors that stripe or graduate in color? And do you prefer two matching socks when you're done? We have something spankin' new and awesome! Laines du Nord has released dozens of new hues that do just that. The yarn is super soft and easy care and the colors look so addictive to knit, don't they? I love the idea of making a Spectra with a solid and one of the paint gradient colors.
We have more than 400 colors of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light right now. Have you ever seen that many colors in one place? Choose your favorite and knit up a Close to You or Hitchhiker shawl for someone this Christmas! Or a Clincher with a bit of a solid detail? Or perhaps two skeins for a Screendoor. Or perhaps you'd like a thicker, cushier project like this cowl using some Tosh DK?
Alfalfa Sock in Longmeadow Picnic
Do you love cashmere? We do too. I have over 100 colors of Dream in Color's Smooshy Cashmere which is great for socks, cowls and sweaters. Six & Seven Fibers is a small dyer that makes some really lovely colors based on Anne of Green Gables, Harry Potter and Little Women. Their Alfalfa Sock is a wonderfully soft cashmere blend that is great for socks and accessories.
For those of you who enjoy a really great deal, I highly HIGHLY recommend taking a look at this. A whole bag of undyed Trekking sock yarn. It's more than half off, which means that you're getting better than wholesale price. If you've ever thought of trying out dyeing yarn or know someone who does, this is a great idea. We are also selling single skeins too. We sold out more than half this past weekend, and I cannot get more. So please grab a bag or more if you do want some.
It's always worth browsing our Yarn section to see all the dyers and companies we carry. We add more all the time in all weights. 18 years ago we used to specialize in sock yarn, but at your request we've been offering other weights of easy care wool blends too. All the way from lace to super bulky.
