New Hue Loco colors
What might you like to get to treat yourself to a wonderful summer knit? We all need a small project to take from place to place, one that doesn't sit on our laps and heat us up, something portable and easy like a self patterning sock to enjoy while sipping a tasty drink on vacation. All my projects this summer are single skeins or a combination of scraps or minis. Definitely small things like socks and hats.
Scroll down to see the crazy amount of yarn we have received this week - long awaited restocks of Regia Premium Merino Yak (Washable luxury fibers? Yes please!), the Somewhere Over the Rainbow Collection from Hue Loco PLUS their Backyard Chicken Collection, Emma's Yarn and Wonderland Yarn Blossom Gradients (above) and more. What's more?
Silver Sebright Hen in the Backyard Chicken Collection
We have SO MUCH new yarn from Madelinetosh this week (come see it in person Saturday if you dare! We are open July 2). Not only do we have great restocks of all the sock yarn and heavier bases we offer (not just for socks!) we have new colors like 5 Letter Word(le), Boredom, Autumn Winds, City of Trees, and You're on Mute shown on Twist Light Sock below. So in addition to the 300+ colors we stock, we just keep getting more. I can't stop myself!
We also have more of the Black Currant color for those that missed out after it was brought out of retirement.
Everyone loved the new Zebra sock base from Life in the Long Grass so much that we added the similar Oliver Twist Sock Yarn from Yarn Love. Oliver Twist even has a bit of nylon for those who demand it for socks (I don't, but some do). And the colors are simply divine. Shop friend Diana knit a Pavement sweater of the Zebra in Moonbow, so if it's something you're considering, this is how this time of marled yarn looks knit up. There's a black strand plied somewhat randomly in the yarn, and it really gives the overall socks or garment a cool look. We have a lot of Zebra and Oliver Twist colors to choose from right now so you get to knit something that's your taste.
Want to make some hats? We have some really cute hat sets (yarn+pom) right now. Take a look and get a super cute project done in days. Make several to get your holiday gifts done ahead of time. This pattern is my go to.
Malabrigo's limited edition Metamorphosis gradient sock yarn continues to be a fave here. Not only is it something that Malabrigo doesn't typically make, but the price of the gradient cake is just $25, when other lines charge nearly $40 for theirs. Gradients are harder to dye and take more time to get right, thus the higher price. But this is the deal of the year. Shown above is my Herald Shawl in the 318-Starry Night color.
And keeping with that Starry Night theme, I knit the above socks last month when Opal Yarn released their most popular Van Gogh collection again, 10 years after it's initial release. Of course, I have a goal of knitting them all. This one isn't even the Starry Night color, but to me it totally looks that way, am I right?
Do you like tools and trinkets? I have a fresh batch of stitch markers and some new knitters' jewelry from Katrinkles. They are all made in Rhode Island and are not only useful but adorable.
I hope this inspires you to choose something new to bring your joy. And if you don't live close to us, we'll ship to you for free as a treat from us to you! Just use code JulyShip.
What have you been knitting lately? Tell me in the comments by noon EST on July 5 and I'll randomly choose one commenter to win a $20 gift certificate to the shop!
I've been knitting hats, socks and shawls for Christmas giving and The Scotlander by Casapinka for myself.

I’m doing the Sailaway Sweater 4 day knit along by Marie Greene! I’m using Malabrigo Rios in Uruguay, Peachy and Fog I got at your shop! I’ve decided I need the Coastal Grandma version too so I’ve been looking at more Malabrigo for that!!

Little House Shawl by Joanna Johnson for two granddaughters in Opal Solid White. Love the "Old Hale Lace" border and the fact that this is knit bottom up - goes faster as you knit with decreases to reach the top. Comes in adult version as well. Considering making one for myself- perhaps with Malabrigo gradient which I have on hand.

Finally completed one vanilla sock after much starting and frogging and starting again. I need to weave in the ends and start the second one. I took a sock class about 8 years ago, and have been trying to get started again (and remember what I learned). I finally switched from using dpns to 2 circulars and LOVE the way that works. I did start the cuff on dpns then switched. Someday I hope to do magic loop. I have so many lovely skeins from your shop that I bought in hopes of becoming a prolific sock knitter. Still trying :)

Socks!! Helen Stewart's DK pattern and her fingering weight simply curious socks. Also a shawl that I started last summer. Getting some Christmas presents ready to start soon.

I’ve been finishing a few pairs of socks that were about 50-75% done. Gives me a nice feeling of accomplishment even if right now I am entirely in sandals mode. And I’m almost done with an interesting shawl, the Oxidation Shawl, which has these little sections of accent colors done in short rows.

Lots of socks, trying to keep plugging away on a blanket, and about to start a couple of summery tank tops!

Currently knitting small shawlettes and adult-sized socks.
The Regia Premium Merino Yak Sock Yarn looks amazing. Thanks for the review.

I have been knitting two sweaters for my grandson, plus one for his baby-brother-on-the-way. Today I also casted on a blanket for that new baby. There’s a theme here…

I’ve been on a sock yarn purge and have knit at least 1 pair of socks a month since January. So far 14 socks down… trying not to lose momentum!

So much! Inclinations Cowl, a Raglan sweater knit in stitch together studios stitch swanky in Blooming Prairie. I just finished a sock test knitt where I used a ball of Madrona. It’s so, so soft.

Socks, socks and more socks! I’m doing my best to have as many done as possible because that will make a serious dent in my Christmas knitting. As for patterns, I’m pretty much casting on and letting the yarn tell me what stitches it would like to try on lol. Have a happy July 4th!

I've been knitting lots of socks! I completed my 10th pair of the year and have pairs 11 and 12 in progress (one sock of each pair done).

I'm working on a sweater from the 2001 issue of Knitter's magazine, which means the yarn has been in my stash waiting for me to start for ... a really long time.🙂

Socks and gnomes. So many gnomes. ❤️

I'm making the Inclinations Cowl with the Metamorphosis Gradient Sock Yarn. It's a lovely yarn and a very different kind of gradient than what we usually see.

I picked a terrible time for knitting blankets, in the hot summer, but I just finished a baby blanket for my new great nephew and now I’m knitting a full size blanket for his parents. However I am planning my next projects, a few toques, mittens and socks for Christmas.

I always have a Smooth Operator sock by Susan B. Anderson on the needles, but my main project right now is a Confetti sweater by Veera Valimaki in gray and white stripes.

Sadly I haven’t been knitting for over 3 weeks, I had to have surgery on my index finger so now my projects are just sitting there looking sad.

Small things…socks, blanket squares and a tank top. My ambition for bigger things is nonexistent, even though I have several sweaters queued up with yarn in project bags.

I just finished a pair of shortie socks with a cotton blend yarn from your shop.

Socks, socks and more socks. I'm taking part in Summer Sock Camp over on Ravelry so socks are the main item being knitted this summer. Dishclothes are my car knitting because I can see the stitches through my sunglasses.

I'm knitting socks, socks, and more socks for Crazy Sock Lady "Summer Sock Camp" and Twin Stitches Designs/Moonglow Yarn Co "Hello Summer Sock Club" collaboration. I'm also knitting and crocheting blankets for my great-grandkids.

I'm knitting the Casapinka Ric Rac shawl out of MT Euro sock yarn from your store and suggestion. It's looking outstanding.

I've been working on the Pavement sweater, inspired by your gorgeous sample by Diana in LITLG Zebra. So fun to let the yarn do most of the work to create such colorful patterning. Very cool look!

I’m working on a Missoni inspired chevron throw. Planning on starting some hats soon for gifting.

I haven't been knitting anything lately. I've been concentrating on home projects as of late, which leaves me with virtually no free time. I am on vacation soon, and hope to sit and knit my first sock. We'll see if it turns into a pair!

I have too many WIP's to count and lately I've been crocheting a baby blanket, which I want to finish so I can get back to knitting. I'm itching to make some socks.

I’ve been knitting baby blankets to donate to our churches crib fund. I do like the chevron pattern you have on your blog
