It's here! After months of waiting, the Van Gogh collection has made its way here from Germany! And boy, did we get a lot of it. Three pallets of gorgeous yarn, that considering the amount of time and the distance it had to travel to get here, arrived in nearly perfect boxes, as you can see. That's quite a feat!
A large portion of this went to those who preordered the collection a few months ago, and the rest we have available here. We have quite a lot for us, and I'm very glad because the last time Opal Yarn offered this collection 10 years ago, I was only able to grab two colors for myself.
Of course I cast on immediately. This is what I knit on Sunday- it's basically all I wanted to do. I'm starting with color 5431-Café Terrace at Night, which is the one poster I had hanging in my college dorm room 25 years ago. I also grabbed one of the new Unisolid colors, 9931 Ocean, to knit the toes and heels. It goes really nicely. We have 12 new Opal Unisolid colors, and we are the only ones in the US to import these. It's not easy getting certain imports right now, so I'm super pleased to be able to get these from Germany for the shop. Here are just half of the new hues. All and more can be found here.
Van Gogh and Solids weren't the only things to get here from Germany on Friday. We also got a brand new collection, Herbstmelodie. Super fun and bright self patterning colors that I'll definitely have on my summer knit list. Yes, I'm putting together a summer knit list. And most of it is self patterning and self striping yarn. It's my Kryptonite, but also the projects that I actually finish in a timely manner.
We have other Opal Yarn collections coming this summer too. Collections are taking longer to get to the US, but we are still getting them, even with the tumultuous worldwide political climate. And the prices haven't gone up. Solids are the same, normal collections are the same, and the special collections are still the same prices. Very encouraging, especially since we're seeing a 15% hike in costs industry-wide so far this year.
