Mary

It looks like you changed up the brim- knit 2 tbl purl two
And maybe no doubling up the brim?

How many rows or inches for brim? Looks like about 2 inches.

I might copy yours... i like the wurm hat - i wore mine out .

My favorite hat to wear now was knitted by my daughter.. it is really warm and has a good fit. She used the yarn in the pattern.. my hat is on the project list as she did it as a test knit... pale blue... rob roy by thea colman.. magpie fibers provided the wool. I am lucky to have it!

I never knitted it myself as maybe the one i make won’t be my favorite!

I have worn this hat all winter for 3 winters.

Wurm has been in my queue for a while. I think you just convinced me to cast on as soon as I free up the right size needles lol. Or maybe I should just order more needles haha!

Hi Mary - yep, I changed the brim a bit. I did a ktbl, p1 for the brim and didn't do the folded over part. I've done it that way for a previous Wurm, but didn't find that it did much for the wearability- just was tedious for me to do, so I did a bit of a rib instead and that's it.

The very first hat I made myself was a Würm! It was too big. I wore it for about a year, because my glasses ‘mostly’ kept it from falling over my eyes. Finally I undid the crown, tore out a few rows, and bound it off. It’s now my absolutely favorite cowl!!!
I didn’t know it came as a cowl pattern too (I thought I invented that, lol).

I’ve knit the Wurm but I can’t even remember for whom I knit it. Probably one of my grandsons. I’ve also knit my daughter a couple of cowls using the same knitting pattern - one on DIC Classy in a gorgeous green that’s no longer available & one in a charcoal gray Debbie Bliss DK Merino. Very different weights but both gorgeous. Perhaps I’ll knit myself a Wurm hat in some MT Vintage I bought from you about a year ago I think.

And here I had been trying to decide what hat to make with a skein of Tweed Me DK I bought late last year— maybe I too will make a Wurm hat.

My current favorite hat is Zipf (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/zipf-2). I like the look of slouchy hats but I can never get them to stay on my head properly, but I found that the short row shaping in this pattern makes it work for my head.

Last winter I made one out of a gray Madtosh Vintage skein and the remainder of a speckled worsted SSYC club color from a few years ago. This winter I made one with Jade Sapphire Peeeps, changing some of the stripe patterns, and holy cow it is so warm and fluffy, it’s like a hug for my head!

Since my head is on the smaller side, slouch hats like wurm , which I have made, just eventually fall down into my eyes. My go to hat now is A Whole Lotta Ribbin'. I knit it on #4 needles for a tighter fit and the upturned brim keeps my ears extra warm.

Yes! I love Wurm. My favorite worsted pattern is Bankhead and for fingering, Barley Light.
