We totally miss you all in the shop right now. It's been months since we have been able to serve you all in person and it really feels disconcerting and disconnected. One of my favorite parts of my week is seeing you in the shop and it's starting to wear on me, this lack of connection. Rachael and Heather decided that since we can't connect in person and there seems to be no end in sight, we are going to try and meet more with everyone online as part of our Christmas in July event (on July 25). They are going to host a Christmas in July KAL in our Ravelry group that will last until Christmas so we can share all that we're knitting. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join. We'll have contests and frivolity and we ask only that to be a part of the KAL that you post about projects that you're knitting with yarn from SSYC. It doesn't have to be new yarn and doesn't have to be holiday themed, but of course we welcome you to place new orders for yarn. We know you have stashed yarn to use from SSYC too and we welcome you share projects with that too. We just want to create a space where we can connect with everyone, since it will likely be many months before we can connect in person. We won't be opening up the shop to in-person shopping until this pandemic is under control/has run its course/there's a vaccine. Of course, we'll continue to ship to you six days a week as we have been, as long as we are all healthy and can work. Rachael will post details later this week in the SSYC Ravelry group, and we hope you'll join.
I can't wait to share all the wonderful holiday-themed skeins that our dyers are producing for us to release on July 25. I've been posting photos here and there on the blog, and I'll continue to do so. One of them is this red and green striped Sock Kit from Urth Yarns. I think it will go fast.
I haven't yet announced the winners of contests we had this summer -each of these winners has been contacted already. Thanks so much for playing with us and we still have a few more contests to celebrate our 15th this summer! Susan G won the $100 gift certificate, Terry won four skeins of Tosh High Twist, Cindy P won an entire Opal Mini Ball set, Ann won 6 skeins of indie dyed yarn. In last week's Urth Yarn contest, the winner was Melissa H.
I wanted to share a throwback to nine years ago today when my new storefront had just finished renovations and I had all the shelves in place. An empty shop full of promise.
Today, the same space holds twice as many shelves and more than four times as much yarn. Thank you for helping me make SSYC what it is today!
Oh wow - I have GOT to get some of that Urth Christmas yarn!! Love it!!
