From time to time, dyers discontinue colors, bring them back, change them, rename them.... sometimes it can be hard to get a color that you'd been trying find either because it's not being made anymore, or it's been changed enough that it's been renamed and you didn't realize. While this is the nature of hand made goods, it can still be frustrating when you have been searching for a skein for awhile and it's nowhere to be found. Here are a few colors that Madelinetosh recently dyed for us that you might have been looking for- might have been unavailable, retired, renamed but then brought back.... but definitely knit worthy. All shown here on Tosh Sock.

I'm often asked why colors are discontinued when they are so popular (Ink and Shire, anyone?). A lot of the time it has to do with the dye. The dyes used to make the colors can change over time, or can stop being made, and dyers have no control over it. Or, in a larger company, the person who dyed that color might have left and perhaps just had a way with that one that no one else does. Or it could be that it's a really intense red that bleeds more than they are happy with and wastes so much water in the rinsing process that it's neither economical nor environmentally friendly to keep making it. These are just a few of the reasons that I've discussed with dyers before, though perhaps you'd like to share other reasons in the comments below.
Right now, we have over 200 colors of Tosh Sock, several retired and brought back recently, so it's definitely worth spending some time perusing and adding to your Wish List. Cuz, dang, where will you ever see several hundred colors in one place at one time?!
