This spring, our dyers are throwing caution to the wind and painting our world with a palette that isn't at all the typical restrained pastel. Instead, we have received, and are going to receive in April, some amazing hues. All week long on the blog I'll be sharing much of that with pattern ideas from Madelinetosh, Malabrigo and Sweet Georgia. Later this month I'll have the spring releases from Stitch Together Studio, Life in the Long Grass, Less Traveled Yarn, Swift Yarn and a new dyer. Plus, of course, more that I can't even think about right now. All this is to say that spring is shaping up to be full of unexpected hues, color combos and ideas that will inspire us all! And read onto the end to see how to win something awesome...
Here's what's on my mind, with our most recent spring shipments.
Madelinetosh Tosh Sock in Electric Rainbow. Almost neon colors speckled with black. Each batch seems to look different, but this batch seems to have a somewhat even amount of all the hues, which is awesome.
And with over 200 colors in stock right now in Tosh Sock alone, I definitely have other suggestions like Maple Leaf, Night Hawk, and Paradox shown below. See what I mean? A play on pastels without your typical subdued nature. Just the punch of color we need as a cowl under a lightweight coat. Just the thing to make us knit outside our normal Crayola box of colors, right?
Stitch Together Studios continues to surprise us with Kayanna's unique way with color. While the spring hues don't arrive for another couple weeks, Toxic Nebula and Queen of Tarts are faves around here. Shown below on fingering weight singles, but available also on a plied merino/nylon sock yarn.
Sweet Georgia's technicolor skeins are a definite treat. My picks for early spring would be Snapdragon, Windswept and Seedling.
Our new batch of Walk Collection's Tough Sock is full of new color. Alaska, Rainbow, and Twister are among my faves. And yes, Twister isn't your typical spring color but the name is definitely relevant for this time of year, and ti color makes me think of a late spring storm over a lake.
These are just a handful (or an armful, really) of hues that I've been thinking about over the past week. And if there's something that you think would make your spring more colorful, do tell me. Just list that skein/color in the comments below... something from any of the yarn lines I have linked above, and I'll choose two random winners to get their fave skein. Just leave one comment by noon EST on Friday March 29. And check back throughout the week because I'll be having giveaways nearly every day this week here on the blog!
Ooh, I'm really liking Alaska from the Walk collection!

I’m intrigued about Stitch Together’s not-yet-arrived spring hues, because their existing shades are gorgeous! Spring means everything turning green for me, so ST Smooth in Endor is my pick— love the little pops of purple, like violets or irises.

I have Sweet Georgia's book on dyeing but haven't yet found any of their yarn (I don't think they stock here in NZ). If I found it, I'd be hard pressed to choose between Tough Love Sock Snapdragon and Windswept. Then again, I'd also adopt Tosh Sock Nighthawk and Paradox.

I can't believe I'm going to select Electric Rainbow. Speckles and insane multi-colors don't usually draw my eye, but this one absolutely did.
I think because our theater group is presenting Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat this spring and it will be a GREAT rehearsal project! Thank you!
