Before I dive into showing off our beautiful Holiday Knit Kits, I want to thank you for your participation in yesterday's big shopping event. Cyber Monday is touted as the largest online shopping day of the year, and while you may think that large retailers like Amazon and Target are what it's all about, knitters proved to us yesterday that yarn shops are a priority too! Yes, it's awesome to receive a great deal on our holiday gifts, and you showed me that you also care about quality, hand made goods and the people affected by your purchases. Thank you so much for such a busy and happy day! Even the smallest purchase makes a difference to us, as do all the kind notes you send us at Check Out. Those were a really sweet surprise.
It's time to share our two Holiday Knit Kits which will go up for sale the morning of Tuesday, December 4. Do you love pups? How about ice skating pups adorned with winter knits? Of course! The fabric was the inspiration for the colors of this kit, and I worked with DnA Designs to put together a bag size large enough to really show off the scale of the pups. This photo shows off this big bag, which easily holds a four-to-five skein project.
I used newer-to-us dyer Arfil in Canada to make this colorway. Arfil has been innovators in the industry, creating methods that are much more environmentally friendly (and therefor pocketbook friendly too) in their family business. Their dye methods use 80% less water and 60% less energy than others! That includes this colorway, Iced Berries, which was named by one of you in this contest.
This kit includes three of the most adorable stitch markers in the knitting universe, 2 little dogs and an aqua mitten. The kids helped me to bag these up, and little Henry (who LOVES doggies) thought he had won the lotto.
Each kit comes with two Katrinkles birch wood loom ornaments which will add some weaving inspired flair to your Christmas tree. They come as a set of two, which makes them great for gifting one to a crafty friend or keeping for yourself (I do have a few extra here if you want lots of them to adorn your tree). The holes in each ornament are left unstitched so you can weave, crochet or stitch them in with a needle or hook and yarn or embroidery floss. The possibilities for how to make these are limitless. By looking at these photos, you can see examples of what you can create. Super cool, right?
Want more a more vintage feel for your kit? Check out the Merry Motorcar Knit Kit!
I really want to talk about this yarn for a sec. Ready? Settle in. Oh, how I love Spun Right Round. Not only does Renee make beautiful colors, but her base yarns are on point. I've knit several hats this fall out of Squish DK, and I've already caked up another color. If you haven't yet tried any of her yarns, this is the way to do it. Not only because you're getting a limited edition color that is only available in this kit, but also because Renee doesn't offer this particular MCN sock yarn very often either. This merino/cashmere/nylon yarn is soft and takes the dye beautifully, but it typically retails well over $30 so it's not one that she offers regularly. Getting it in this kit is a great way to give it a try. The color is called Holiday Traditions, and each skein is unique- some have more pink, some are more neutral with just specks of pink, and each is lovely. If you want a beautiful surprise, much like opening a gift on Christmas morning, this one's for you.
Isn't this fabric cool? I just may have an obsession with cars carrying Christmas trees. We did a kit three years ago with some, I have pillows and signs in my home with them.... it's bad, but oh so good. And the inside fabric is cute too, with all sorts of Christmas sayings.
The three stitch markers you get in this kit are a tiny Santa Hat, a little gingerbread man and a candy cane. Aren't they adorable? I can't get enough of our stitch markers! These are hand made for us using polymer clay so they are light weight and durable. I haven't yet broken one of these while using them, but I'm betting it will happen eventually. I'm a bit klutzy.
To complete your Merry Motorcar Knit Kit you'll receive the same Katrinkles loom ornaments I featured above.
If you'd like one or both of these, they will go up on our website at the Kits & Clubs link mid-morning on Tuesday, December 4. As always, we and all the craftspeople involved are greatly appreciative of how much interest these get. We LOVE the response and wish that we could put together double or triple the amount, but because each part is hand made there is a limit to how much we can produce. I will continue to come up with fun Knit Kit ideas in 2019 like I have for more than a decade and I do hope that if you miss out you'll find something that inspires you in one of our upcoming kits too.
Love them both! Great job. 😊

What awesome kits! I would like to purchase additional stitch markers to give as gifts. Do you sell them separately?
Thanks!

Hi Pam, Thanks for asking! I'll know how many stitch markers I have left after all the kits sell out next week. If you'd like to e-mail us after you get your kit, we should know by then if we have markers left. Usually, we do have some.

You’ve really outdone yourself, Allison! I love both those yarns & LOVE the cars with Christmas trees bag & the doggies almost as much. I’m setting an alarm for 8:00 Tuesday. I think these will sell out really fast.

Love both kits, but wish you would include the price. If I know, I have from now until Tuesday to justify buying myself something for Christmas and deciding what I might give up in exchange. Thanks for all you do to keep my needles occupied with such beautiful yarn.

What is on the inside of the dog bag? Lighter interiors work better for me.
