Next Tuesday we will start our annual holiday celebration of all things sock yarn with the 12 Days of Sock Yarn! For the seventh year, we're celebrating our exclusive holiday at Simply Socks Yarn Company! From Dec. 13 through Dec. 24 you have a chance on this blog to win a special knitterly gift each day. Could be yarn, could be accessories, and it will definitely be awesome.
How can you join in? Simply visit the SSYC Blog every day from Dec. 13 through the 24th and answer the question in the comments section before the following day's question is revealed (the comments will be closed on the previous post once the next day is up). You'll automatically be entered to win the gift shown for that day. If you participate each day, you'll have a dozen chances to win (one chance each day). And yes, you can win more than one day! It has happened before.
You don't have to participate in any particular holiday to win anything- you just have to want some awesome free yarn or goodies. I'll post winners in January, and you'll also get an e-mail if you've won a prize.
Are there any questions (knitting or not) you'd like to see asked one of the 12 days? Tell me in the comments below, and try and I'll add them to the list of questions. I've added some awesome holiday traditions to my life over the past few years because of your suggestions, and I really enjoy reading through everything you post. And I love giving out 12 days of prizes!
Yay!!

I am having trouble adding a new color of yarn. I really want to make scrappy socks. What is the best way to add a new color gen knitting top down?

Here's the question currently bouncing around in my brain:
I've knit multiple gauge swatches for a sweater with a few different yarns. The swatches done on US6 needles are too small and the ones on US7s are too big. Would there be problems with the final project if I use one needle of each size if that achieved gauge?

Here's my question: I have narrow heels. I have figured out how to get a heel that will fit using the standard heel flap & turned heel. How can I get a narrow heel on a short row heel?

Hope you have a wonderful day for the Open House. Wish I could be there. Look forward to reading about it later.

Here's my question: Which needles to you prefer, wood or metal? Yarn Harlot and Simply Socks pictures of "works in progress' seem to prefer metal, so I bought some from Signature. But I keep returning to wood (wood and wool seems like a natural combination).

Question: Kitchener stitch (especially for socks) has a two-stitch set up before starting... why is there not a two stitch finish? I always feel that there should be (reverse of the set up) but haven't mastered it yet. I've been knitting socks for 16 years.
