I've been hinting at our 3rd and final 10th anniversary kit for a couple weeks now, and finally here's the reveal! This coming Tuesday, August 4, you'll have a chance to grab one of these packages featuring yarn from Blue Moon Fiber Arts and the awesomely useful Yarnit accessory to tote and protect your yarn.
So let's talk about the special edition yarn. Tina and her team dyed up this glorious colorway, Jitterbug, on their popular Socks that Rock Lightweight base. Yes, this would make gorgeous socks, but the color seems to be one that would look good on nearly everyone, so I'm thinking a Sockhead. I'm almost always thinking Sockhead, so I'm somewhat predictable.
The yarn comes protected by a cool new accessory known as the Yarnit. It's a super invention made by Kate Sullivan, and she has this to say about the Yarnit:
"My "aha" moment happened at 30,000 feet. My yarn fell out of my lap, rolling under multiple passenger seats behind me and all over the grimy floors of the airplane. By the time passengers were able to kick it back to me it was covered with months of crumbs, dirt and who knows what else from the airplane floor. Additionally I purchased a small farm in upstate NY and was having some renovations done. The 4 hr drive in the car back and forth every weekend was prime yarning time but now, unavoidably, the car floor was covered in mud, stones and bits & pieces from the construction. It was wicked when my yarn fell from my bag or lap to the car floor mat.
Now add to the above PK, my curious yarn chasing cat, Yankee, my needle eating dog and the tangled mess of storing my yarn loose in a knit bag, only to be constantly loosing time sorting everything out when I did get those precious few minutes, resulted in the invention of the Yarnit.
My precious yarn is now kept safe & clean, protected from grime and pets and ready to go at a moments notice.
The Yarnit is a lovely glass-like globe made of Lexan (the same material your eye glass lenses, race car and hurricane windows are made from) making it highly durable,, practically unbreakable and it won't discolor.
Easily pop your yarn in and out. Changing yarns is so simple and the centrifugal force design means your yarn flows like butter keeping your tension smooth and sweet. The Yarnit is a 5" globe that is a perfect size for your knit bag, or use the strap and work anywhere anytime. It makes knitting a true joy but is especially great for the knitter who loves to take their knitting everywhere they go. Heck it even fits in the cup holder of your car. There are docking slots to keep your yarn and needles protected and the base which offers storage for your stitch markers and darning needles, will hold firm to all surfaces without causing any damage."
The base of your Yarnit slips off and easily holds your tapestry needle, stitch markers (not included in the kit) or other accessories so you can keep track of everything and not worry about losing your tools.
Kate even customized the Yarnit with the Simply Socks Yarn Company logo to commemorate our 10th Anniversary. How cool is that?
Rounding out this kit is a set of gift tags so you can tell a loved one how much knitting for them means to you.
This kit will sell for less than $60, which is a super deal. I'll have other Yarnits in the shop for you later, but this custom one is available just in this kit.
Our special edition kits tend to sell out within a day. Our last two kits this summer sold out in just a few short hours. So please don't hesitate too long if you think this one is for you. I typically put these on the website around 8am EST. Yes, I know this can be a bit trying for those in other time zones, but since this is the time zone we work in, this is what works for us. We are a small team, so we do our best to be as efficient as we can and keep costs to a minimum for you. I take all your suggestions and even your complaints to heart. I know it can be frustrating when you miss out on something you really want, and I wish I could have more kits available, but it's not something we can do and still maintain the quality we are known for.
We all greatly appreciate your interest in our kits! Designing and sending these to you is one of the highlights of what we do. Really. And we have some awesome things planned for the upcoming fall and winter. I'll keep you updated!
