For the sixth year, Simply Socks Yarn Company celebrated our own little yarny holiday known as the 12 Days of Sock Yarn. I received so many kind e-mail and comments about how much you enjoyed reading the comments people left each day. I agree- leaving comments and participating is fun, but learning more and being inspired by others is the real prize. If you haven't taken time to read through the comments for each day, I recommend doing so. I've linked each day with the contest winners so you can easily find and read them if you like. Thank you so much to everyone for participating in our contests and joining in the fun!
I've randomly chosen the winners of each day of the contest. Winner have all received e-mails, so if one of these is you, please check your e-mail.
Winner of the first day of sock yarn is Martha who was asked "Who received the bounty of your knitting or crocheting this year? You or others?" She responded, "Most for me, some for charity, a few pieces for really good friends." Maureen won a sock monkey bag and Regia Active yarn.
Winner of the second day of sock yarn is Beth P who was asked, "What's one of your favorite things about this time of year?" She responded, "I love seeing my kids faces when they open their gifts." Beth won two skeins of our Poste Yarn, Patina.
Winner of the third day of sock yarn is Ann who was asked, "Is there a particular cookie recipe that you and yours LOVE to indulge in this time of year?" She responded, "Sour cream sugar cookies from a 75 year old church cookbook. The book is old enough that it asks you for a warm oven instead of a temperature. Add Aunt Jean's frosting recipe, and it's definitely Christmas. While they are cooling my dad would always take two because they were "stuck together". Ann won two skeins of Yaksi from Blue Moon Fiber Arts.
Winner of the fourth day of sock yarn is Laura S who was asked "If you had to choose one knit or crochet project that really spoke to you this year, what would it be?" She answered, "I have been addicted to knitting socks this year. I finally finished a pair of awesome Halloween socks, and I love buying self stripping sock yarn." Laura won three skeins of Lorna's Laces Sportmate.
Winner of the fifth day of sock yarn is Yvonne who was asked "How much time do you spend on your craft, be it knitting or crochet?" She answered, "I knit everyday If I have a few minutes in the morning before I knit. Knitting is my sanity thing and I cant just sit and do nothing. I dont play too many games so its my knitting that gets done. To me I like the idea of knitting because after an evening I have something to show for my work not a high score if a game was played." Yvonne won the color of her choice of the awesome Turtle Purl glitter and stripe yarn.
Winner of the sixth day of sock yarn is Paula who was asked "What's your preferred method for knitting socks?" She responded, "I prefer double points. My favorite needles are Crystal Palace bamboo. Have tried the 2 circs. method. Just not for me." Paula won a Tall Skinny bag from Bird Leg Bags and two skeins of Simply Sock Yarn in Cherry Red.
Winner of the seventh day of sock yarn is Eve who was asked "If you got to design your own colorway (multi or striped) what colors would you combine and what would you name it?" She answered "I would use tangerine, grey, fuchsia, and midnight blue. I would call it the gloaming." Eve won two awesome test skeins of Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock Lightweight.
Winner of the eighth day of sock yarn is Kate who was asked "How do you most often plan your projects? Do you get inspired by a skein or colorway that you just have to have NOW, or do you see a pattern that you must have and then choose yarn?" She answered "I plan mostly by color. If I see a yarn/color combo I like, I find a project to go with it!" Kate won the prototype skein for our Valentine Kit which goes up for sale very soon.
Winner of the ninth day of sock yarn is Lisa who was asked "Where is one of the more odd or unique places you've knit or crocheted? Do you have a funny story about knitting somewhere somewhat unusual? Or perhaps you went on vacation somewhere exotic and knit the whole time?" She answered "My knitting has traveled a lot with me...on many planes (you can get a lot done on a 10 hour flight!), on a train through Europe, on the beach in Mexico - just today in a long car ride from the airport. But I can't say any of these are particularly unusual." Lisa won three skeins of Cascade Heritage 150 Paints.
Winner of the tenth day of sock yarn is Jessica who was asked "Is there a tool you've started using, or a new technique that you've adopted this year that has made your craft even more enjoyable?" She answered "Really large bread tags wrapped in washi tape (so the look pretty) make a great center for a hand wound ball of yarn. They are reusable and fun to find when you get to the end of the ball." Jessica won a Hadaki Box Bag to carry her project-in-progress.
Winner of the eleventh day of sock yarn is Caitlin who was asked "How many knitted or crocheted projects have you finished this year?" She answered "Oh man. I've finished about 35 projects this year - a mix of sweaters, socks, and other things. I thought that was pretty good, considering my full time job, but Heather's total makes me feel like a slacker. She's totally an inspiration to knitters everywhere!" Caitlin won two skeins of Poste Yarn Striping Sock.
Winner of the twelfth day of sock yarn is Lynn who was asked Did you knit or crochet any self-patterning sock yarn this year? If so, did you make socks with it? Or did you make something else?" She answered "I have purchased self patterning yarn, but have yet to use it. After reading above comments, I really want to knit some socks. Love the look, a goal for 2015. Merry Christmas, this has been a blast. Love all the comments and ideas." Lynn won the new Cascade Heritage Prints.
Thanks again for your participation! I look forward to next year!
Congratulations to all of the winners! I look forward to the 12 Days questions and reading the entries.

Hi Allison I enjoyed reading all comments people left before Christmas and how many knitters think of others, not only during the holidays, but all year long. I have to be honest, I loved the tall bag from Bird Leg Bags, that I emailed Vickie and ordered my own. It reminded me so much of pictures I used to draw when I was a kid, so I just had to have one!
