On the sixth day of sock yarn, Simply Sock Yarn gave to me...
three skeins of Socks that Rock in Rauen!
To have a chance at these three skeins from Blue Moon Fiber Arts, perfect for a large project or several smaller ones, simply answer the following question in the comments below:
What was your favorite skein you purchased from Simply Socks Yarn Company this year? I know, it's hard to choose just one, but let's give it a try. Was it something from our exclusive sock yarn clubs or holiday kits? Or perhaps a ball from the Little Prince collection? If you're new to Simply Sock Yarn Company, instead take a look at our website and tell us what you see yourself needing to start the year off right in 2014.
Hmmmm. My most favorite skein? Ack, I'm having a hard time thinking about that. I've never been so drunk on yarn love as I have been the last half of this year. Every time the UPS man brings boxes each day, I drop whatever I'm doing and wait like a panting dog at the door waiting to see what has arrived. It's seriously demented and the funny thing is that our delivery guy doesn't even give me an odd look anymore. That's how normal it seems to him now. But if I choose one that I've actually finished a project in (leaving out the yarn we dye here b/c I love them all equally), I'd say the Fleece Navidad color from Blue Moon Fiber Arts that they dyed for this last holiday kit that sold out in less than two hours. I just adore it so much. (and I look fowrard to sharing their entire color collection with you in early 2014)
Of course, ask me this same question in an hour, and you could get a completely different answer. Or more than one answer. Or you could just see my head explode.

Hmm, I would love to try Handmaiden Casbah. Looks so luxurious!

My favorite purchase this year was the Patina Test Kitchen set. I loved that I was surprised by the colors I received. They were perfect for Stephen West's 2013 mystery shawl (Color Craving). I loved each of the colors, but the El Dorado is my favorite.

The Sweet Georgia, Silk Crush:
Chai Spice looks like some
beautiful wool to start the
New Year with.
Thank you

I just might need some more LL Solemate - thin, but warm and cozy socks for me.
Posted by: Merna | December 19, 2013 at 04:11 PM
Oh my gosh. I have no idea. I don't keep track of all my yarn. I probably should since I have more than I can possibly knit in a lifetime. Thanks for the great giveaway. Happy holidays!

I love the Fleece Navidad and the November Dream in Color club selection!
Posted by: Beth L Ruiter | December 19, 2013 at 04:16 PM
My favorite this year is the Blue Moon Angry Elf that came in the Christmas kit. It is snuggly to knit and gorgeous in coloring. Thanks. Hopefully it will be available, to those of us who are too far away to come in, soon.

I'm new to the website, heard about in on The Fat Squirrel Speaks. I feel as overwhelmed as when I go to a new yarn shop, only more since it is all sock yarn! Love it. I would pick a yarn that I have never used before such as the Miss Babs yarns.
Posted by: Judy Milston | December 19, 2013 at 04:20 PM
Don't know if I've actually made a purchase this year. I'm really trying to reduce stash! However, I loved my socks with the Poste striping yarn. Will look forward to more in the future.
Posted by: Julie | December 19, 2013 at 04:25 PM
Dream in Color Starry in deep blue. I made a beautiful sparkly shawl that won Grand Champion at the County Fair.

The kids love their highlighter socks!!! So bright and beautiful!
Posted by: Chrissy Foreman | December 19, 2013 at 04:33 PM
I've been unemployed the last year so not many yarn purchases. I'd love to try some Madelinetosh yarns in the new year. Her Tart colorway is just so gorgeous!
Posted by: TamiH | December 19, 2013 at 04:35 PM
I just recently found you and I have not yet purchased any yarn. You have some gorgeous items so I will have a hard time picking.
Posted by: Maureen | December 19, 2013 at 04:40 PM
My absolute favorite was a skein (7767) from the Little Prince line. The blue in this yarn matches my winter coat perfectly and it became a Sockhead hat.
Posted by: Nancy DeMere | December 19, 2013 at 04:45 PM
My favorite was the Paris Poste Sock Kit in the blue variegated (since blue is a favorite color). Although I did like all the Poste Highlight colors also. Or maybe the Christmas Kit oh I just love all the fibers I receive, so glad I only can do mail orders or I would be in your store every time it was opened!!!
Posted by: Stacy | December 19, 2013 at 04:48 PM
I didn't buy yarn this year -- trying to work through the stash. But I bought circular needles -- sizes 1 and 3 in 16". This is a tough size to find, so it was great that you were there!
Posted by: Lynne | December 19, 2013 at 04:54 PM
I have been dying to try socks that rock for a few years now so I'm waiting for that to come online.
Posted by: Maureen | December 19, 2013 at 04:57 PM
My favorites -- anything MadelineTosh or Blue Moon Fiber Arts.
Posted by: KathyD | December 19, 2013 at 05:00 PM
I have a hard time picking just 1 yarn!!! I like the Biscotte et Cie surfer socks kit although I'm trying to finish up other projects before I start that one!!!
Posted by: Wendy Sandeman | December 19, 2013 at 05:04 PM
I am new to Simply Sock Yarn. I want to buy Pride Karbonz 6" Double Points Size 0. I want to try yarns from Tanis Fiber Arts, Three Irish Girls, Zitron and many more. I want to visit your store!
Posted by: Rose Birchall | December 19, 2013 at 05:05 PM
Difficult to pick but probably would be the Vincent van Gogh Opal yarn.
Posted by: Jean | December 19, 2013 at 05:19 PM
Yarn from this year would be the January dream club yarn that was knit into the Icchigo tam that highlighted all the lovely colors.
Posted by: Linda Zalusky | December 19, 2013 at 05:30 PM
I am new to SSYC and can't wait to try the Poste someday! I told Santa that is what I was wishing for so we'll see how good of a listener he is :)
I did get some Online Aspen Worsted yarn and am loving it in a hat. The colors are fabulous!
Posted by: Karin B. | December 19, 2013 at 05:31 PM
Fleece Navidad! Love both the colour and the feel of the yarn
Posted by: Bobbi | December 19, 2013 at 05:38 PM
Best yarn this year from SSYC? Fiddle Knits Beach Blanket!!! Love it!!! Yarn I'd wished I'd snagged: Fleece Navidad Blue Moon! And the opportunity to win some Socks that Rock is awesome!
Posted by: Deb | December 19, 2013 at 05:46 PM
I Have to agree with Allison. I love the Blue Moon Fleece Navidad. I love everything about it - the name, the rich colors, the softness of the yarn, everything! I felt so lucky to receive one of the holiday kits. So much fun!
Posted by: Nancy Bluhm | December 19, 2013 at 05:47 PM
I'm going to say the Cascade Heritage solid in cream, simply because I'm currently turning it into a gorgeous sweater for my now overdue grandbaby. How else can you choose?
Posted by: Sue | December 19, 2013 at 05:48 PM
I got some malabrigo in a carabeno color way. I can't wait to knit something and feel all tropical!
Posted by: Cynthia Hall | December 19, 2013 at 05:57 PM
Has to be Lorna's Laces Solemate, Rainbow colorway. I made a pair of socks, then a hat, was asked for another hat by someone who saw the first one, and I ended up ordering a total of 4 skeins over a period of two months and by some miracle they are all the same dye lot, so I can use up every leftover bit on some more socks. I've gotten many other fabulous yarns since then, but this one showed me how amazing the new yarns are, compared to the ones I used 20 years ago when I first started knitting and then gave it up for awhile.
Posted by: Marjorie Millner | December 19, 2013 at 06:03 PM
Poste Pot Luck Austin City Limits is in my top five favorites from SSYC. Its navy, gold and a medium neutral purple. One sock done, one to go. Then I'll try new colorways in January and can't wait to get Little Prince.
Posted by: mary | December 19, 2013 at 06:03 PM
Oooo. What a test! Island of Misfit Toys, Angry Elf just recently. I think the sparkly Halloween stripe is way up there for me.
Posted by: Merridee | December 19, 2013 at 06:18 PM
Wow! You really know how to ask the tough questions.
Tough decision. Which should I choose?
Tanis Fiber Arts, Purple Label
or
Skein, BFL Sock
or
String Theory...
For now I will go with Tanis Fiber Arts, Purple Label.
At least you didn't ask which color. LOL!
Posted by: Elizabeth | December 19, 2013 at 06:24 PM
This year, the choice would be the Opal sock yarn I purchased at my first visit to the storefront in Fort Wayne. Looking for another excuse for a road trip.
Posted by: Barbara G. | December 19, 2013 at 06:28 PM
My favorite skein from SSYC this year was one of the ones I got for my birthday in the store - the tosh sock in filigree. I had never worked with this yarn before, and I loved it! I knit up beautifully and the color is just gorgeous. There is so much depth to it!
Posted by: Rebekah | December 19, 2013 at 06:36 PM
My favorite SSYC yarn purchase has been the Boo Witched yarn in th Halloween kit. It made awesome Jaywalker socks for a dear friend. I am also in love with my new green sparkle yarn from the December club. I can't wait to use that yarn!
Posted by: Cindy | December 19, 2013 at 06:37 PM
Simply Socks has provided me with wonderful options this year. I think my most face was Poste yarn in the highlighter colors. You know you love a yarn when you don't get second sock syndrome.
Posted by: Allise | December 19, 2013 at 06:40 PM
I really loved knitting up the Madelinetosh Tosh Sock this year. I would definitely purchase more - I like "Birthday Cake" a lot.
Posted by: Karen Majors | December 19, 2013 at 06:44 PM
I am looking forward to becoming a new customer when the Blue Moon Fiber Arts yarn is available online.

I have purchased 4 skeins of socks that rock recently and they will be waiting for me in April when I go back home. I couldn't wait til April to order!

I used several skeins of Cascade 150 for socks and liked them all.
Posted by: Angel | December 19, 2013 at 07:17 PM
would love to try one of the socks with cashmere... i have a pair of cashmere gloves that i wear to bed and they are the lightest warmest and most wonderful things.
i can imagine a sock with cashmere would be scumptious

My favorite was actually the project bag with the hearses on it but that's not exactly sock yarn! Trekking is an all around nice choice for a favorite purchase this year.
Posted by: Sue | December 19, 2013 at 07:22 PM
My favorite was the most recent holiday kit with socks that rock. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get it, just admire its picture. :p
Posted by: Marina | December 19, 2013 at 07:25 PM
Lorna's Laces Sock in the Multi rainbow colour way. I have never knitted with Lorna's Laces before so I got it from you to try, and it was SO LOVELY. Holds up very well and is soft and warm and pretty!
Posted by: Kate | December 19, 2013 at 07:29 PM
Probably the Malabrigo Sock in the Piedras colorway that I got earlier this summer. But I have to say that I'm super in love with some of the Poste colorways, and those may have to be part of a retail accident I have some time in the new year.
Posted by: Caitlin | December 19, 2013 at 07:31 PM
I can never remember what I've bought over the year, but I do know that I have a skein of Schaefer Nicole that I bought several years ago and am just getting to knitting now. I'm kicking myself for not buying more when I had the chance. Love it! Any recommendations for a similar yarn? That I would like to try.
Posted by: Sarah | December 19, 2013 at 07:42 PM
My favorite is the Angry Elf STR, I already made a sock head hat from it and I loved the whole kit!
Posted by: Lisa | December 19, 2013 at 07:43 PM

The poste stripe snowflake va, love how it feels!
Posted by: Judy Wagner | December 19, 2013 at 07:49 PM
Anything TOSH or DIC or made with BFL or Blue Moon or maybe it would be easier to name yarns I don't like....give me a minute
Posted by: Pam Owens | December 19, 2013 at 07:50 PM
Hmmm. Right now my favorite is probably the BMFA socks that rock in the handsome man color. Tomorrow it might be the skein of three Irish girls and next week maybe the madtosh sock. It's impossible to pick a favorite. Kinda like with my kids. Except maybe right now I like my yarn better. LOL.
Posted by: Stephanie | December 19, 2013 at 07:52 PM
Opal yarn mail is always my favorite but with one order I added in some Aria Sock. I haven't knit the Aria yet but it will be some awesome socks when I do! Love the colorway!

I really loved my OOAK yarns from Zen Yarn Garden - the gorgeous browns made especially for SSYC, which will hopefully become a sweater over Christmas <3
Posted by: Melinda | December 19, 2013 at 09:00 PM
I love the mini skeins of Miss Babs. They are fun for small projects like my little doll dresses and my crochet pouches. My favorites are the dark blue and red.

My most favorite yarn that I purchased from you is Madelinetosh Pashima.
Posted by: Denise | December 19, 2013 at 09:16 PM

Posted by: Lynn Mozzoni | December 19, 2013 at 09:17 PM
I haven' ordered any yarn from you yet, but I would love to knit socks with Poste Stripe Wizard Loyalty. Thanks for the chance to win!
Posted by: Jen Gottschalk | December 19, 2013 at 09:17 PM
That's a tough choice! But if I could only pick one I really liked the Poste Patina Test Kitchen skeins especially the Angor Wat. Hard to find a such a beautiful brown.
Posted by: Anne | December 19, 2013 at 09:20 PM
Buying yarn from the USA is a huge treat as it usually gets clobbered with customs, and the price doubles.
But I did get some of the Simply Socks Yarn this year it was the anniversary yarn a few years ago. I had some at the time, but the socks have now been passed on to daughter, so I felt the need to replace my sock stash. I think it's Lornas Laces. But my most favourite ever sock yarn has to be STR light weight.
Yum.
Posted by: Susan | December 19, 2013 at 09:21 PM
I bought some beautiful skeins of yarn from the sale section - Fleece Artist in the worsted weight in Pewter and Plum - It's wonderful yarn and knits up beautifully.

Posted by: Sarah | December 19, 2013 at 10:02 PM
Miss Babs tarte Prince color way is fabulous but it was hard to choose from the other Miss Babs I got at the same time! Blue Moon has been a favorite of mine for years. It's great to have another place to get it. Thanks!

Newbie here! I have never tried Madelinetosh - feel like I really need to in 2014!
Posted by: Rachel R. | December 19, 2013 at 10:06 PM
The rosy/cranberryish color of one of your Poste yarns in the yarn club before this one. Can't find the label at the moment! Love the color and how the yarn feels as you knit with it!
Posted by: Patty McD | December 19, 2013 at 10:13 PM
I have several, but I think I will have to say Blue Moon Fiber Arts in River Rocked.
Posted by: Anita S. | December 19, 2013 at 10:14 PM
So not good at picking one favorite. But I to say that really liked my Tosh Sock in tart. Pretty red that I made into a scarf that goes with all the black and white I wear.
Posted by: Heather | December 19, 2013 at 10:40 PM
one of your open days this year happened to fall on my birthday so I talked my husband into a road trip. What a great shop with super-nice people and simply the best yarn collection I have ever seen. My favorite from that fantastic day is Pagewood Farms Yukon in Blue Sky Pink. Can't wait to start the project! Someday i want to get ahold of one of those special yarn sets you have for the holidays, my fingers aren't fast enough on the keyboard!

I don't remember when I purchased it...though I suspect it was within the last year. The skeins of Van Gogh sock yarn :) I haven't used them but I do love them...
Or was that last year? Hmmm....
Posted by: Renee Anne | December 19, 2013 at 10:56 PM
I'd choose MT Tosh DK in Whiskey Barrel. Then I'd have to buy another skein to go along. Or maybe two. ;) I'm not normally fond of browns, but the beautiful grays and browns in that colorway would make a magnificent textured shawl!
Posted by: MonicaPDX | December 19, 2013 at 11:02 PM
Anything blue is gorgeous for me!!!!!
Posted by: Brenda Mull | December 19, 2013 at 11:41 PM

I can't remember what I may have purchased from you in 2013, but I love DIC Everlasting DK Sock and am sure to purchase it next year!
Posted by: Nancy | December 20, 2013 at 12:21 AM
I got some Abstract Fiber Supersock in Koi Pond this year. I kept looking at that color, and pinned it on Pinterest, and finally ordered it. Have I cast on yet? No.....I'm still working on my "island of misfit toys" Christmas socks. Last year I finished my Christmas socks on the ninth day of Christmas. Fortunately, we are Episcopalian, so Christmas doesn't end until January 6th!
Posted by: Jane H | December 20, 2013 at 12:30 AM
My favorite skein that I purchased from SSYC
is Sweet Georgia Silk Crush in the color Riptide. It is half wool and half silk. What a treat for the feet!
Posted by: Linda W. | December 20, 2013 at 12:35 AM
My favorite skein would have to be Fleece Navidad from the recent holiday kit!
Posted by: Barbara | December 20, 2013 at 12:41 AM

I am looking forward to buying more of the Poste yarn. I love the skein I used.
Posted by: Brenna | December 20, 2013 at 02:01 AM
I like to try new yarns but it would be very hard to choose what to try 1st from this website!!! Top of the list I think would be Poste Patina: Easter Island because the color just intrigues me. Next would possibly be Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock in Lettuce Wrap just because I "need" a pr of nice green socks.
Posted by: AndreaW | December 20, 2013 at 02:43 AM
I got a skein of Madelinetosh Pashmina that I made into a hat, and I still have half a ball left that I'm planning to use for mitts to match. It's gorgeous, soft and easy to knit with.
Posted by: Nathanne Verner | December 20, 2013 at 03:34 AM
I think it would be one of the Dream in Color Club yarns...I really loved the color of the Posh Sport in Jan.

My favorite was the Poste Christmas Island.
Posted by: Wendy | December 20, 2013 at 06:40 AM
My favorite yarn from SSYC this year (and it is so hard to pick just one!!!) was the sock yarn based on scenes in Paris, the red skein named Moulin Rouge - it is the prettiest red yarn I have ever seen, not to mention the softest!
Posted by: Danyelle N | December 20, 2013 at 07:18 AM
I have loved everything you have put up on the website, but if I absolutely had to choose - I would go with the Fleece Navidad kit. Or at least the yarn. It's a lovely combination of colors for Christmas!
Posted by: Amy G | December 20, 2013 at 07:35 AM
At the moment it's the Angry Elf kit! Love the yarn and the bag and the chocolate was fabulous!
Posted by: Ruth Anne | December 20, 2013 at 07:41 AM
Hands down it was the Hotsy Totsy kit yarn. My yarn was so pretty and my friend, who ordered the kit too, her yarn was different (she was on the waiting list). I REALLY liked hers better and she mine, so we switched! haha...AND I ended up giving the shawl I knit to my mom which is really fun for me (she knits too).
Posted by: Brenda | December 20, 2013 at 07:46 AM
The Père Lachaise colorway of Poste sock yarn from the summer club! I just love that base!
Posted by: Melissa | December 20, 2013 at 07:50 AM
No purchases yet for me, but I'd like one of everything, please! :D I do love the Opal Petit Prince collection very much. Opal is my favorite go-to sock yarn, and I was luckyluckylucky to be able to visit Tutto, the factory in Germany last year!

Smooshy, Smooshy, Smooshy. As a new sock knitter, I am crazy happy to be able to knit with a yarn that is so comfy to hold and to wear. Thanks Dream In Color! Michelle

Socks That Rock in Lady Edith. I just saw a sock knitted by Sue B. in this colorway and it is gorgeous! So glad I bought a skein. Can't wait to cast on socks (for me!)
