Wanna know what's in the upcoming SSYC 7th Anniversary Sock Knit Kit which goes on sale June 2?
Shown above is what you'll find nicely wrapped in your package. First you'll get the introductory Curacao Breeze striping colorway of the new Poste Yarn. This is a 393 yard skein of a superwash corriedale/nylon, and the stripes are approximately 6 rows per color (if knitting a 64 st around sock), as shown in the sock below. As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, this new yarn line is dyed in SSYC's 3500 sq ft studio and store- a restored post office, thus the name. More colors will be released later this summer/early fall, as the team will be hard at work dyeing while I'm on maternity leave and online ordering is unavailable.
Here's a nice, detailed photo of the adorable Bird Leg Bag, hand made with Amy Butler fabric to match the Curacao Breeze colorway. Each bag is reinforced to allow it to hold its shape, and inside is a coordinating dotted fabric. The zipper pull is even adorned with beads. Such attention to detail.
To round out the kit, you'll find our new needle and hook gauge, which gives 24 different sizes of holes for those of us who can't keep track of what size our needles are (I'm raising my hand) or when the printed needle size wears off the needles. A very useful tool. And finally you'll also receive a 3.5 ounce bar of all-natural, hand crafted soap from local Mrs. Troyer, a soapmaker who prides herself on quality and uses as many organic products as possible. The scent is one that I specifically had mixed to not only be fresh smelling and clean, but also to deter moths and other wool-crazy insects. You can, of course, use it as a soap, but I'll also use one to keep in my sock drawer to make my hand knit socks smell nice and also to cover the wool scent from moths. I've never had a moth problem in my hand knits, but I like the idea of naturally preventing any issues. And I like the idea of opening my sock drawer and smelling this awesome mint/lavender scent!
The price of the kit will be approx $56, and you are welcome to either purchase this online on Saturday, June 2 (I'll blog when it's available, and if you're on the e-newsletter list you'll be directly notified) or you can get one in the store that day during the party. Please do keep in mind that these are likely to sell out in a few hours like many of our kits do. If you miss out, I will have either a waitlist or a preorder system set up later in the week where you'll have the opportunity to secure one in late August. Afterall, it takes nearly 2 months for all the yarn, bags and soap to be hand made. I don't want anyone to miss out, if you really want this special skein of yarn. So if they sell quickly on Saturday, just know that you should check the blog here again, or check the e-newsletter about details for getting one from a future batch. I haven't decided whether this color will be available outside this kit, so if you really want it, make sure to get a kit now or watch for preorder info for another batch.
I look forward to sharing other Anniversary suprises with you in the coming weeks- sales, contests and fun!
Woohoo!!

i must be hallucinating, I thought I saw a post somewhere saying to email if we wanted to be put on a wait list for this kit if it does come around again? I'm so crushed, this one is fabulous and I can't wait to see what other stripey yarn is in the works! (I am still complaining about the TFA valentine kit I missed, lol!)
