It's that rare weekend post! Dream in Color's Dream Club selection for January is available today, and I know that many of you wanted to see it asap, especially since DIC didn't release one in December. When the link stops working, that means it's gone. But if you missed out on the November color (which many did b/c it went quickly), check back in a few days b/c I was able to snag a bit more of it.
This selection is dyed on their newer sock yarn base, Everlasting 12-ply. It's a durable and soft dk weight yarn, and the way it takes dye gives it an ultra-saturated look. This color is one that you'll want to take outside to see the depth of color- as soon as it hits the natural light, the deeply vivid blues and greens pop out of what looks like a duller blue/black in artificial lighting. I took the photo ot this skein on an overcast day outside, and it really reflects the color nicely. Veronica, the mastermind of color at DIC, tells me that she didn't fully appreciate the depth of color until she knit the hat above. She said the knitted fabric really shows off the changing of the colors in this deeply colored skein. It's definitely one I'm putting in my stash so I can experience it myself.
The accompanying pattern is a beanie hat design- wonderful for this time of year. But the color would be equally lovely in a pair of socks, and would even make not-so-boring men's socks. It's one of those colors that would be a nice one even for someone who is somewhat affraid of color.
Happy New Year Allison! What wonderful things will 2012 bring??....2011 will be hard to top!!! Love the shop, blog and sock yarn....thanks for doing all you do!
