It started out a typical summer day. Woke up, doled out smooches to a bleary eyed toddler, packed orders, then drove into rainy Fort Wayne to grab a skim latte at my favorite coffee shop before going to the building to check out the previous day's progress. But when I parked and walked across the parking lot of the Firefly Coffee House, I noticed something thrilling and unexpected.... small crocheted projects adorning the umbrella stand, the iron gates, and even a little scarf for the cement turtle. We've been YARN BOMBED! Hooray!
If you are new to the concept of yarn bombing, it's when a group of crafters get together to do a sort of "fiber graffiti", knitting or crocheting up items and adorning a cityscape with their work, keeping it a surprise until it's unveiled. I've read articles and seen pictures of yarn bombings in larger more urban landscapes, but have never seen one in person and certainly didn't expect to see it at my adored coffee shop just a street over from the store's new space. So, to whomever did this, YOU ROCK! Thanks for making my, and others', day with this unexpected show of your talent and love for fiber. You've turned a regular ol' Thursday into a memorable event.
Now I totally want to use some of my leftover yarn for a future bombing.
you're welcome=) so excited for your new store!!!!!!

It was fun! Done on International Yarn Bomb Day, I think I am safe in saying there will be more to come! I would LOVE to do a LARGE project where everyone does a big granny square or something and connect them to bomb a big item. Firefly is also my favorite place to grab a coffee and breakfast sandwich, yummy! Owner is actually marrying my fiance and I in September :) We heart him!
And thanks Hilary!
