The store's 6th anniversary is coming up in a week, and if you'd been shopping at SSYC for more than a year, you know that I try and bring you some special deals for the Sale Section during this time. I thought I'd do a little something special and announce the sale a week early on the blog. This year, Schaefer Yarns has given me a great deal for you, and so you'll find many colors of their Anne sock yarn in the Sale Section for 30% off!
I chose several popular colors from past collections, and I gave Cheryl and her dyers free reign to send one-of-a-kind colors as well. They came up with several new multicolors like Gaia, Salamander and Wall Street as well as somewhat solids like Neptune, Rosemary and Royalty.
Looking for some pattern ideas? Entomology by Laura Nelkin is a popular Knitty pattern. It's a nice lace shawl that uses beads for a bit of bling. But you can definitely leave the beads out if you don't want a fiddley project. You might also take a look at the Cathedral Socks from Knitty. Really, any fingering weight yarn project would be appropriate, but I found that going down to a US 0 on the foot worked well because this is on the thinner side of fingering weight.
When I first knit Anne several years ago, I thought it seemed like a delicate fiber combo. But my finished socks have lasted just as long as any others- they really do hold up well to washing and wearing.
If you've been waiting patiently for news about the Anniversary Kit, featuring the Amish Clothesline colorway, that will be available in early June.
Oh no! Now I have even MORE options to choose from....may not be able to hold out until anniversary kit :) The colors look wonderful!

I know what you mean, April. I'm particularly fond of the somewhat solid colors that Schaefer sent. They are awesome!

I was so excited when I saw that you had Schaefer Anne yarn on sale - it is my favorite and you have it in colors I have not seen before. Thank you, thank you. I would like to make a road trip to Fort Wayne just to visit the yarn shops - never been there before.

We have three yarn shops in Fort Wayne (counting mine). Two of us will be within a half mile of each other, and the other is only a 5 minute drive. Really, it will make a great weekend trip for knitters!
