This club features TWO things that you have requested from me en masse. Speckles and Knit Kits. Speckles are the thing right now. They are used almost as neutrals as a way to marry several bold colors. They are used alone for stunning accessories. They are collected as little pieces of art as each one is unique.
And since I get so many requests for more of our holiday and special edition Knit Kits that sell out within hours, I decided to include an element of those in each monthly shipment. So with each month's yarn you'll receive a special surprise from a craftsperson. Could be edible, knittable, adorable... you won't know until you open your package! But think of it as a mini kit without having the hassle of trying to get on our website at the right time of day, click to put yours in your cart only to find that someone faster has stolen it. This way, you just subscribe to the 3-month club and we automatically send you yarn and a goodie mid-month in April-May-June.
When you sign up for the club, please make sure the club is the only thing in your cart. For your subscription to be counted, it must be ordered alone. If you accidentally include more items, you'll receive an e-mail and a refund from me. If you are in the US, your shipping is included already. Just make sure you choose the free shipping option at Check Out. If you are outside of the US, our normal Flat Rate is added- but just once instead of three times for three shipments, which means you're getting a bit of a deal on International shipping. As usual, you are welcome to order more than one club in the same order. Some of you order several, which is awesome! And if you choose "in store pickup" and are picking yours up in the shop on one of our open days, then we will refund $18 to you as usual.
Thank you for your continued interest in the special edition offerings we've done over the nearly 12 years SSYC has been serving you. Your suggestions and passion make this fun for me, my staff, and the dyers and craftspeople that contribute to all of it.
With super special stuff from Knitterly Things and Primrose Yarn, a case of the Mondays is turned on its head! Seriously, this is a special day, my friends.
First, I have some Find Your Fade kits from Kelsey at Primrose Yarn. These 6 or 7 skein kits help those of us who might not have the time or interest in seeking out an artistic selection of colorways for this popular project. Kelsey has created 5 options for us so that we can get started immediately! The kits use her fingering weight merino singles, Adelaide, and it's super soft and glows with color. I have two seven-skein kits and three six-skein kits to give you a bit of flexibility on price and how you are executing the pattern.
For those who want to put your own Fade together, I'll have an epic selection of colors from Primrose in a few weeks.
Julia at Knitterly Things has started dyeing up a Bespeckled line of yarn and we are the first shop to share it. As someone who has worked with stripes for years, her ability to combine color in an artistic and inventive way is definitely put to great use in this new collection. You'll enjoy an array of speckles, splotches and waves of color that make each skein unique. If I weren't test knitting something right now, I'd have cast on last night while watching Victoria.
With some of these skeins, you really have to either click on the image to enlarge or see it in person to see the array of little tiny micro-speckles that adorn each skein. These things are so perfect I. Just. Can't. Even.
They are the kind of skeins that you could easily combine with a solid from Tosh Sock to make a two color shawl or project of some kind. They POP.
I hope this brings a bit of brightness to your Monday! It's sunny but cold here in NE Indiana again, so I could certainly use some wooly warmth in my life today!
I have for you Opal Yarn's newest collection, Illusion! This one features what Opal does best- boldy colored, self patterning yarns. What I noticed first thing about this collection was that it actually leaves a nice amount of natural/white yarn to accent the bold color combinations. If you look at every other Opal color I have right now, and I have a great selection, the finished socks are all saturated with color. But in this Illusion collection you will find part left natural to punctuate the inventive self pattern. I think that's a fun change, don't you?
I think it will be a fun knit too. Which color would you choose? Tell me in the comments below which is your fave and if you'd knit it for yourself or someone else, and I'll choose one commenter to win the ball of her/his choice. Please leave one comment by noon EST on Saturday, Feb 11. Good luck choosing just one!
Introducing Pont des Arts, the February striping color on our new cashmere blend! Throughout 2017, will be releasing a striping skein and coordinating mini skein for toes and heels. This set will be available for a limited time, though we will likely release just the striping skein later for you. This month's selection is based on the Paris bridge that was adorned with love locks. You can see more about it here.
We also just released 6 new striping colors on our regular superwash wool/nylon blend. A couple years ago we created a color line of grays with a stripe of color and now we have introduced six new striping options to this line! All of these feature slate, silver gray and a color. Which is your fave?
Hey, maybe it's time to announce the 12 Days of Sock Yarn Contest! What, you mean I meant to do that a month ago? Yep, that's me.... the overwhelmed mama and yarn shop owner. Time flies when you're playing with kids and yarn!
All winners have been e-mailed about their prize, and they are listed below. If you think one of these is you, check your e-mail and spam filter.
If you didn't participate in the 12 Days of Sock Yarn, do join us next year! It's our own yarny holiday that we've been celebrating here on the blog for years and it's a great way to get to know others- their holiday traditions, fave knitting projects for the year, and more. I have a blast reading all the responses and love incorporating your ideas and traditions into my own. If you want to see what we did, just click on each day below.
