It's here! Oh so much lovely yarn from our newest dyer is here! Say hello to the yarn of Ireland's Life in the Long Grass. I'm so glad to be sharing this with you. Caroline's colors are just superb and I'm sure you'll agree once you get them in your hands that the pictures are great but the true colors shine even more in person.
Shown here is Tin Shed on Fine Sock, and the inspiration for it.
Fine Sock is obviously perfect for socks, but you can also use it for any fingering weight project that you want to be soft and washable- baby items, shawls, scarves, etc.
Singles is one ply and takes dye beautifully. It's not as durable as the sock, but in exchange you get a yarn that seems to glow with color and is very soft for shawl and lace pieces.
DK is a very soft and round DK weight superwash merino. Perfect for shawls, sweaters and winter accessories. Also would be nice for thicker weight socks that knit up fast for last minute holiday gifts!
Carolyn has this to say about her company and her dye process:
We are an Irish artisan hand dyed yarn and art studio in the countryside in Ireland. I am a keen knitter and was taught to knit and crochet by my Mum and our crafty neighbour Mrs Ryan. I love working with natural fibres and incorporate them in our home and what we wear as much as possible.
We worked as a graphic designer (Caroline) and architect (Jonny) in London and Spain before moving back to Ireland and living in the countryside – from there it was a natural transition to take our love of colour, art and design and apply it to our love of yarn.
Our name represents the natural life of the wool that we dye; wonderful sheep braving the elements and a way of life where taking the time to make something and enjoying the process is as important as the wool itself. We are crazy about texture and rustic living and are inspired by our surroundings in the countryside, you will spot this in our main body of colourways.
I do hope you enjoy getting to know Caroline and Jonny through the skeins they've made for us. Just in time for the holidays!
