Thank you to all who participated in our yearly 12 Days of Sock Yarn Contest. It's our own little holiday celebration, and it's always a good time. I love to read each response, be inspired by your ideas and creativity, and I got more e-mails than ever this year from those of you who also love reading all the comments. I won't make you wait any longer.... here are the winners! Every winner has been e-mailed, so if you think one of these winning comments is yours, check your Inbox.
Winner of the 1st Day of Sock Yarn is Maureen who was asked "What did you knit more of this year using sock yarn? Socks? Or non-sock projects." She responded, "I knit more scarves and shawls. I used fingering yarn of the Madelinetosh Light that I had received as a gift for my birthday. I knit some with Ella Rae yarn as well. I knit others with stash." Maureen won an Amy Butler Cara Tote!
Winner of the 2nd Day of Sock Yarn is Beth who was asked, "What is your favorite hat pattern to knit with sock yarn?" She responded, "After seeing the Sockhead hat that you knit, I had to give it a try and I love it. It is now my perfect travel project. I am on my third one." Beth won four skeins of her choosing of Simply Sock Yarn Solids!
Winner of the 3rd Day of Sock Yarn is Kat who was asked, "Do you use yarn or knitting to decorate for the holidays?" She responded, "I have not used yarn or anything I've knitted for holiday decorations. Knitted decorations = trouble for mischievous knitties." Kat won the color of her choice in the popular Little Prince collection by Opal!
Winner of the 4th Day of Sock Yarn is Wendy who was asked, "What was your favorite sock pattern of 2013?" She responded, "I used the Vanilla Latte pattern and loved it. Would definitely use it again because it is easy and just different enough from the vanilla sock patterns. I also like the Pin Stripe pattern". Wendy has won two skeins of our exclusive Poste Yarn, Patina.
Winner of the 5th Day of Sock Yarn is Renee who was asked, "Take a look at the available colors of Lang Jawoll Degrade and tell me what you would choose and what exactly you'd like to knit with it." She responded, "I think it would be fun to use this yarn with a solid to knit the Nymphalidea pattern from Knitty. Something bright like Degrade 51 with black." Renee won two balls of Lang Jawoll Degrade.
Winner of the 6th Day of Sock Yarn is Judy who when asked, "What was your favorite skein you purchased from Simply Socks Yarn Company this year?" said "Blue Moon Fiber Arts, Socks that Rock was new to me and I love the two skeins- Sadie Sue Tipsy and Lady Edith. Need to find the perfect patterns for these lovelies." Judy won three skeins of Socks that Rock in Rauen... a line that will be available online in a week at SSYC! Details to come...
Winner of the 7th Day of Sock Yarn is Nancy F who was asked "How do you typically celebrate on New Years Eve?" and answered, "We relax with family and have the crockpot cooking with that great old Southern tradition of blackeyed peas to include with our main meal on New Years Day. The kitties usually spend the evening in a closet or under a bed from the neighborhood fireworks." Nancy won the color of her choice in the newest 6-ply collection from Opal.
Winner of the 8th Day of Sock Yarn is Leah H who was asked "What was the most ambitious or outside-your-box project that you started or completed this year?" and answered "I did my first sweater this year, as well as learning stranded colorwork (though I haven't finished my project yet!). Despite those knitting milestones, I think my biggest challenge is the one I'm working on now-- starting and finishing a sweater within 1 month, while abroad, doing fieldwork for my Master's theses. If I get it done, I will be very impressed with myself." Leah won the two featured skein of Cascade Heritage 150 solids!
Winner of the 9th Day of Sock Yarn is Amy who was asked "What method do you use for knitting your socks?" and said, "Started on DPNs, but have taught myself to use Magic Loop and circulars. I think it's important to expand the knitting arsenal! I'll take any of them, as along as I have socks on the needles." Amy won two skeins of her choosing in the Rowan Fine Art collection!
Winner of the 10th Day of Sock Yarn is Amy who when asked "How many hours a week do you dedicate to the fiber arts?" answered "Life does get in the way sometimes! My fiber arts are knitting only right now. I spend about 9 hrs per week on average knitting-- I'd go longer but my eyes get tired." Amy won the who pictured skeins of Cascade Heritage, one paints, one solid.
Winner of the 11th Day of Sock Yarn is Ashley who when asked "Who do you knit for?" answered, "I knit about half for me and half for others. My husband gets the bulk of my knitting because he is so appreciative and supportive of my hobby." Ashley won a skein of the Tanis Fiber Arts Silver Label in our special edition Silver Plume colorway!
Winner of the 12th Day of Sock Yarn is Brenda M who when asked "Is it snowing where you are today?" said "No snow, but very cold!" Brenda won a $50 store credit to her online SSYC account!
