On the 12th Day of Sock Yarn, Simply Sock Yarn gave to me...
a skein of Opal's new 8 Ply light worsted sock yarn!
To have a chance at this rare treat from Opal, simply answer the following question in the comments below:
Is there a Valentine combo of colors that you'd like to see us dye up in Poste Yarn this year? Perhaps some pinks with grays? Or reds with another punch of colors? Give me a few ideas for two color stripes and three color stripes and you might see us dye of up one or more of them for the Poste line in a month or so!
Every year or so Opal releases a 6-ply DK-ish weight sock yarn, but I've never had an 8-ply version in the store before. I think that they may have released an 8-ply version ONCE before, but I honestly can't remember. So if you like the idea of a light worsted weight, self patterning sock yarn, snag one of the six colors before they are no more.
This marks the end of the 12 Days of Sock Yarn for 2012! Thank you for joining me in this little celebration of sock yarn. I'll announce the winners here in a week or so, as well as the winners from the Dream in Color contest from two weeks ago. I hope you all have a wonderful last week of 2012.

I always think of red when it comes to Valentine's Day. I did see a combination of red, orange, and fuschia made into squares with hearts in each square in intarsia. It was a knockout, so I think a stripe yarn with those three colors would be beautiful.

Browns and pinks with a very pale pink. A sort of dark chocolate brown and hot pink, with the similar colour but very pale.

I like gray and pink a lot but would prefer more gray than pink, so perhaps 2 stripes of gray and 1 of pink. Thanks for all these contests!

Hot pink, light pink and a dash of white for the optimist. Blood red, black and a gray for the pessimist......or the naughty. :)

I think I'd like a pink and orange, or purple, yellow, and red combo.
Have a great Christmas.

I'd like a combination of red, hot pink, and orange for Valentines

I don't know if it's even possible, but I would love to see a two color in pink and black, with the pink taking 6 to 8 rows and the black taking 2. For a three color, I thought of the minuet roses from when I married - have widest band in cream, next widest in rose pink, and a flash of green as the smallest stripe. I think that would be yummy!

And, by the way, thank you for the 12 days of Christmas contests - this has been fun. Wishing you and your family a sweet and merry Christmas with your two precious sons. These are the best of times!

So many good ideas throughout all the comments. Valentines Day being my favorite holiday as it's our wedding anniversary!!! Red is definately my 1st choice for a Valentines color. I think mixed w/ a mocha brown. For 3 colors... add in a creamy white. On the other hand red/ dk green/ creamy white would also appeal to me. It's a bit Xmasy... but then the socks will be "multi-holiday". As long as all the colors are strong... I don't really care for pastels.
Happy Holidays to all the knitters + their family/ friends out there!!!
Thanks Allison for the fun I've had participating in this!!!

Make it bright. I'm thinking orange, yellow and pink roses.

How about a deep red, with a rich purple and a hint of silvery gray. Happy Christmas to you and your family! Thanks for doing this again this year.

For a two-stripe, I'd go with a dark blue and a light blue to reflect the blues that sometimes accompany an unrequited or ended love. Valentine gone wrong.
For a three-stripe, perhaps a purple for passion, shades of pink for the different levels of romance and some thinner stripes of white for contrast and symbolizing the purity with which our hearts quest for true love.

I think a purple with fuchsia and blue

I still love just red and white for Valentines day.

Valentine's Day to me is shades of red. I love red; I favor a classic red rather than a cherry red. Personally, I like a red leaning towards orange rather than purple. Thank you for the 12 days of Christmas.
