A few weeks ago, I bought the Color Affection pattern with the intention of choosing three colors of MadelineTosh Merino Light and making myself something special. Then I told myself, "Self, what if this shawl meets the same frogging-from-boredom fate as your Creekbed Scarf. Do you really want to start a three-skein project when you're having a baby in less than two months?" I think the answer is yes. And I've heard from many of you that you are interested in knitting the same shawl. If you live locally, are you interested in a Knitalong?
I'm considering having an informal get together two Thursday evenings in the store, where we can all just sit and share our Color Affection shawls and they start and progress, and we can ask and answer questions and keep each other motivated toward our goal of casting off and wearing these lovely pieces. If you think you would be interested in sitting and knitting with us in the store on a couple Thursday nights, e-mail me at service@simplysockyarn.com. If enough knitters commit, we'll make it a go- likely two Thursday evenings in June (like the first and third Thursdays) from 6-8. That way, they are spaced out a bit so we can see progress between meetings, and we can set up a thread on Ravelry to ask/answer each others questions between meetings.
Heather (SSYC staff) and I are both in, and I'd like to know how many of you are definitely in as well. As this isn't a class, simply an information KAL, there isn't a fee involved if you are going to buy or have already bought all the yarn for the pattern at SSYC. The pattern is available for purchase directly from the designer on Ravelry.
Merino Light is a good choice for this one, as well as Tosh Sock, Tanis Fiber Arts Purple Label, Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Multis or Solids, Malabrigo Sock, and Smooshy with Cashmere.

Even though I'm in Texas - I'd join the KAL and knit each Thursday evening here at home - and follow the thread on Ravelry! I would like to make that pattern just for the fun and the challange!

OMG!! I'm in Winnipeg and my LYS also chose this pattern as the Knitalong for the month of May! I can't believe this! It's such a coincidence!

You're really, really, making me want to move to Indiana.

Please put me on the list; I'll be there in person. I'm doing mine in Tanis Fiber Arts Purple Label, probably Orange Blossom, Brick, and Chestnut. The first skein is wound, two more to go.

...wondering if a 6 hour one-way drive is a bit much for a KAL...

Count me in! Wait, I have to see how far away Indiana is from NY. ;-D
Yup, I am still in. I will knit every Thursday night with your group and follow on Ralvery!
Have fun!

If I lived closer, I'd be in... But a 2-3 hour drive is a little much for me right now.
Oh well...

Well, I've decided to join the KAL from Texas! I've downloaded the pattern - I really do like it.
And, I took an early break and ordered my yarn - Lorna's Laces in Sock Solid - Dobson, Dusk and Navy were my color choices. Just have to check the needle stash when I get home -- don't have much call for a 32" long when I knit socks and mitts since I use the 9" circulars mostly.
I'll be ready when the start date is decided!

I can't decide between Color Affection and Bold & Blended Stripe Wrap Do you think colors are picked similarly (for contast, blended, etc)?

My yarn arrived for the KAL and those three shades are give the effect of an evening sky with storm clouds coming in just as I hoped! Now to wind and get out a project bag and add my needle and my row counter and I'll be all set!
