...which means Valentine kit planning is in full swing! Now I'll be honest and tell you that this was causing me a bit of trouble. Usually I start planning kits several months in advance. Afterall, it can take three months just to have bags made, and just as long to get in thequeue for dyers. And let's not even discuss the wrench that can be thrown if stitch markers or accessories are hand made in another country, get routed to Australia instead of the US, and end up there for months. Ugh. It's a delicate balance.
This year, I forgot about Valentine's Day. So I've pulled in some favors- luckily I know some awesomely acomodating and understanding people in the fiber industry, and they are making some superb things for this year's kit. I found that just being honest with my predicament is helping quite a bit. Why did I forget about Valentine's Day? I'm blaming it on Baby Brain.
Yep, Joe and I are adding a new little one to our family in early summer. James is very excited about having a brother or sister- I think he expects that he'll have an immediate playmate- he's in for a shocker! This pregnancy hasn't been nearly as easy as I remember my first one being, but of course that was five years ago... perhaps time makes one forget? I'm much more uncomfortable, queasy and unmotivated than I remember being. I'm easily distracted and uninterested in food. And I'm blaming it all on the pregnancy!
So, I guess you can expect the blog to be a bit baby-centric over the coming months as I try and find time to knit baby items (who am I kidding- I only had time to knit one hat for James), poll you for baby name ideas, share my latest craving (whoopie pies!!) and generally grouse about how I'm feeling. I keep telling myself that since I'm into my second trimester now, I should be feeling much better soon. Right? RIGHT?!

well congratulations to you, Joe and James. Perhaps your readers can help keep you motivated in making baby items?

Congratulations!! I will be more than happy to follow a baby-centric blog over the next few months - I'm a dyed-in-the-wool "Nana" and pretty good at it too.
You will be feeling better soon - and the best place to hide the frozen milky way bars is in a box of brussel sprouts LOL

Woo-hoo! Congrats on baby :)
Don't feel like you have to knit for baby (that's what your knitting friends are for!). I'm still working on things for Little Man that I started while pregnant (he's 14 months old).
Oh well.

Awesome! Congratulations to your whole family. I hope you feel better soon. Try to get enough rest. I will tell you what my Mother used to say, "if you feel really different with your second baby, then it probably is the opposite gender of your first child." Healthy and Happy for all of you is what we want!

Congratulations!!! Very exciting news. I had more morning sickness with each pregnancy. Treasure this special time tho'... when you think how amazing it is what your body is doing - whew. I always felt blessed to be able to carry the baby (poor dad's don't get to feel that).

So very happy for you and your family. Treasure every moment of your pregnancy..even the uncomfortable ones. Id like to say something clever about the single sock syndrome but nothing comes to mind.

Congratulations! Such exciting news. My sister had horrible morning sickness that went on past the first trimester & found that sipping root beer while nibbling on saltines was the most effective remedy.

Congratulations! The old Eggbert cartoons immediately popped into my head (it took a little searching to find the name). They have some of the images and books for sale again at http://www.cafepress.com/originaleggbert if you don't know what I am talking about.

I'm so happy for you and your family. All the best for a beautiful baby. Try saltines and ginger tea or ginger ale for nausea. Ginger is good for bad stomachs, and it's natural. I used to crave salami and mustard, which normally I don't eat. Go figure...
