Help Make it Right- The House That Yarn Built
Or at least the house that yarn is desperately trying to build....
We all have tragedy affect our lives at one time or another. Tragedies big and small. Most of us recover from those things that knock the wind from our sails. Some of us are never quite the same and instead just plaster a facade over our self to keep others from seeing our pain. And while most of us have a person or group of people to help up recover from our downfalls, it strikes me that New Orleans hasn't recovered from the tragedy that hit land over two years ago.
Christy over at www.thehousethatyarnbuilt.com is trying desperately to raise money to fund a "house that yarn built" as part of Brad Pitt's Make it Right foundation. I applaud her for her time and effort in trying to make a difference to so many. And while I can't build a home for those in need, I have hope that together, thousands of knitters can!
So I'm asking you all to just take a look at Christy's plea at The House That Yarn Built. She has a much more eloquent message than I do. And to show that I mean business, e-mail me after you have made your donation, and I'll match up to $1000.00 of what you all donate. Now, this is totally on the honor system here, so e-mail me at allison@simplysockyarn.com after you have donated. I'll keep track of how much you all raise by the middle of May. So please, PLEASE spread the word on your blogs, Ravelry, Knitter's Review, your local knitting group, or however you think you can spread the word widest to get some donations in. Link to this specific blog post so that people know to e-mail me the amount they donated and I can match it. http://simplysockyarn.typepad.com/simply_socks_yarn_co/2008/04/help-make-it-ri.html
