The question I most often get from my customers is "What can I knit with sock yarn other than socks?" We love sock yarn for many reasons- the amazing colorways that can be created are limitless, the cost per project is small compared to a sweater or heirloom-quality blanket, it's compact and easy to, ahem, collect... those are just a few. But sometimes we want to use our stash, or buy tasty new yarn, for a different project. In this case, I invite you to check out the Shibui Knits patterns I have added to the store. There you'll find many ideas for projects- even things to knit with just one skein. These patterns are wonderful in quality, detail and versatility. Many of them have options for using dk or heavier yarn, and they all include top quality pictures. From the Icosa Ball Pillow to the Transition Gloves, you're sure to find something you adore.
Want another idea? Take a look at Shelly's blog 'cuz she FINISHED THE BLANKIE. Seriously. Shelly, you rock.
And if patterns aren't enough for you, I've added a few more colors to the popular Shibui sock yarn line up: Finch, Honey, Rust and Sky. And their new colors are coming out shortly, which I already have on order. I'm quite looking forward to these, as they are medium tinted colors- more subtle. Take a look at their website, if you want to check out what will be available. Try not to be turned off by the pictures of the new colors- since they don't have the new colors in stock yet, looks like their website designer simply took the pictures that were already available and used Photoshop or Fireworks to tint the old photos and make them look like the new colors (of course, this is just my educated guess). It doesn't give a great impression of what the colorways will look like, but it give you an idea of what's to come. Regardless, I'm still looking forward to seeing more subtle tones from Shibui Knits. Especially Jonquil- I'm a sucker for a good pale yellow.
