Wondering what to do with all those sock yarn bits you may have left in your skein after finishing a pair of socks? Many of us knit kids socks or combine like-weight yarns into a new, multicolored pair of socks. But Shelly is doing something a tad different. She's using all her left over sock yarn, and yarn sent to her by new blog friends, to knit a mitered square blanket! Take a look at what she's up to here: www.shellykang.com/Blog/index.html . You'll have to scroll down to see the process since it began about a week ago. There are directions too, I beleive, if you want to do one yourself. Such a cool idea, eh? Anyone else seen come new things happening with left over sock yarn?
I've recently joined the Toasty Toes sock swap, and have received the name and preferences of my secret sock pal. I think I will start thinking about what yarn to use once I finish the first of the Schaefer Anne socks. Several of the knitters in the swap have already started their socks. One person has a whole sock finished. I haven't even picked out yarn yet.... but I have til Oct to get the socks finished. I think I have a bit of time....
I've also recently joined Yarn Aboard hosted by Amanda. And by the looks of it, A LOT of you have too. Jeez, I don't know how Amanda does it- hosting Toasty Toes and Yarn Aboard. And with three small children. I swear, she's Super Mom/knitter/organizer/wife. I have a feeling she enjoys a good cup (or eight) of coffee or tea to keep her going. Hell, I don't even have kids and need my coffee.
In more sock yarn KAL and swap news.... Have you all seen the Cascade Fixation KAL? Looks great! I'm thinking of joining that too, as it looks like sign ups don't close.

Ooh, I just used some leftover Schaefer Anne for the Perdita beaded cuff in the new Knitty... :)

Yarn Aboard looks like it will be fun! I knit my daughter sport socks from Cascade Fixation - they are so awesome, and they wash nicely! Schaefer Anne is awesome yarn - I just got a couple of skeins from my LYS in really lovely colorways. Hope you are staying cool on this hot Monday!

Thank you Allison for your kind words! And yes, my secret weapon is caffeine. And occasional bouts of insomnia too :o)
